Places and Pastors

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Well we spent this weekend scouting locations for our photos. We hit the RBG rock garden, Whitehern and the Steam Museum. The museum was the coolest but they won't let do any commercial photography inside. "Screw them," I say. Whitehern it is. Less walking, more architecture and closer. We also found ourselves a minister to marry us… Tom from All Life's Milestones. So whatever else happens we'll be able to get married (as long as I don't forget the license)  Below are some pictures from our scouting trip.

[EDIT] looks like Whitehern is booked so the search continues.

The Date is Set

Sunday, February 3rd, 2008

Posts have been sparse lately because nothing has been planned. We were waiting to do our tasting before we signed for the venue. That finally taken care of, we have a date. How does May 23, 2009 sound to everyone? If you're busy that day tough, but what kind of person has plans set that far in advance anyway (Unless you're the kind of person who has to hit the first day of trout season). For those of you curious as to the location, it'll be at  The Art Gallery of Hamilton.

Venue Excitement

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

I think we found our venue! We're crunching the numbers and putting together our questions right now. The space is great and the prices are good. Hopefully the provided caterer doesn't suck, though looking at their website I don't think its the case. Stay tuned for all the exciting developments! (yes I'm actually getting excited)

I went wedding dress shopping for the first time with Eva (who is getting married in June) and it was great! We went to Village Wedding Bells in Waterdown and Victoria Bridal on Hamilton Mountain. Both places were small and cute with friendly staff. It was fun to see how opposite our tastes are as we both tried on dresses and stood on the pedestals trying to decide what we like and don't like. Eva is almost ready to buy the one she wants so she was just looking for similar things that might be better. She looked stunning in everything. I tried on all kinds of different styles, a definite learning experience. I have a better idea of what I'm looking for now so I think our trip was a success.

Looking for Venues

Friday, October 12th, 2007

We've started looking for venues. Calling places, making appointments, sorting lists. We're looking anywhere form Toronto to Niagara Falls. Its a pretty wide area. though there is pressure (mild) to have it closer to Hamilton, but I'm apprehensive. All the in house caterers around there are Italian and I've never had great Italian at a wedding, and as most of you know I'm all about the food. I want French.
